Ondoy Aftermath

Ondoy has changed our lives in many ways. A lot has happened, but soon things will get back to normal.

Many thanks to everyone who helped us and worried about us during those difficult times.

…and it was awesome!

This is the first time I had a 3-dimensional movie experience so I have to document this. XD The frame of the 3D glasses was distracting at first, but shortly thereafter I found even the 3D trailers amazing! It’s really something that is better experienced first-hand than explained to you by somebody else.

Up has a very heartwarming story. A few minutes in and I was already teary-eyed from both the LOL and aww scenes. The storyline is powerful; I expected no less from Pixar, and I was not disappointed. And although quite expensive, seeing it in 3D is well worth it! However, I wouldn’t mind seeing it in 2D, too. It’s that good!

Rating: YEEEAAAAH!!!

100 Themes Challenge – indefinite hiatus. It really got too busy at work, and I’m exhausted/sick. I wanted to give up altogether, but that would suck so much because I already have invested time and energy on this, not to mention I won’t be able to forgive myself for not seeing this through ’til the end. I also got some words of encouragement from friends concerning issues I currently have, so I am not abandoning this challenge. Before my head explodes, I’m taking a break from this until further notice. (I’m sorry.) Thank you for all the support you’ve given me so far, my friends. Art challenge will be back before you know it.

Finally saw Nine Inch Nails live at the Araneta Coliseum for the first time last night. Awesome, AWESOME show. I strongly felt that each song sounded waaaay cooler live than its studio version. The setlist was great, and the guys were all very impressive. The overall sound was also great (considering the venue): very loud yet very clear, which I like, hehe. At first I was worried that they would sound bad since Pupil’s set didn’t sound that good, but NIN’s mix was clean. The guy behind the mixer was a sight to behold, too, dancing around shirtless while moving those sliders and stuff! And I love the drummer! Ooh I really wanna be a drummer now.

(EDIT: I forgot to mention the lights! They were awesome, too!)

I think by the 4th song I was already satisfied with the whole thing (LOL) since it was March Of the Pigs that I wanted to hear live really badly. My best friend was looking forward to Head Like A Hole and my old classmate wanted Hurt. We all got what we wanted, and much more! XD Too bad they didn’t play 1000000 though. :(

Trent is looking really buff! I miss the “Closer” Trent, hahaha. But I guess he’s healthier now, so good for him!

Last night was also the first time I’ve seen in person someone throw a guitar that high. *applause*

I also saw lots of old friends during and after the show. :D It’s really nice to see them all again!

I just hope that this isn’t the last time I see NIN live. Last night was dreamlike; I want to experience that again. *waves goodbye to NIN (for the meantime)*

This is regarding the 100 Themes Challenge thingie I’m currently trying to beat. Our good bot-friend Randell gave some interesting suggestions that I’d like to try out. In addition, my current setup only worked for me because I’ve got a home-based job the past weeks. I’m going back to regular office work this coming week, so I think the Friday deadline I gave myself will be a lot tougher for me.

From now on, I will submit my 100 themes challenge artworks on Mondays. So expect artwork #5 on July 20 instead of July 17. :D

Four artworks down, 96 to go!

When I first tackled this 100 themes challenge, I immediately started on #1 and worked on it throughout the whole week. #2 kicked off half a week before its deadline. I only began #3 the night before the deadline (after many days trying to come up with ideas), and #4  was done for just several hours on the deadline itself! (While working!)

These are the 2 major things I am trying to achieve with this challenge: 1) have a regular stream of ideas and artistic output, and 2) not have a long time to slack off to keep myself going. But a week for each artwork? I am starting to think I’ve made my deadlines too tight. I want to make really nice artworks that I could be proud of, but it seems a week for each piece is a very short time to make them great. Right before and after uploading artworks, there’s always a desire to add or improve on something, change this part, remove that part, redo the whole thing, etc. but the word DEADLINE stops me from doing so– WAIT A SECOND!

*reviews challenge rules*

Ohhh so it seems I have never said I’m not allowed to edit works I have already submitted! Huzzah! There’s still a chance for improving works, although it would mean less time for the following artworks… argh! Ok, somehow I’ll find ways to make it through.

96 weeks to go.
